Alrighty! Here I am back from Berkelah Falls in one piece!! Wow!!! What a trip I had!! It was filled with danger and excitement!!
DAY ONE
Met up at Kranji @ 7pm! Haha! I wasn't late this time, in fact, I was the 2nd person to arrive there together with Amos!! I'm normally like 30mins late one loh but this time I proved everyone wrong!! The first to reach was Li Chin who actually came from school and was having her dinner on the floor... so sadz!!
Grace was the 3rd to arrive then after that the rest came liaoz so by 8pm we managed to set off from Kranji! Anywayz, cleared customs and reached Larkin by 11pm so we had enough time for a short meal and Macs before taking the 6 hour long bus ride to Berkelah.
I couldn't sleep much on the bus at all cuz it was freakin' cold!!! My legs were like super cold and it wasn't until the air con was off that I managed to sleep an hour or so before we reached a kopitiam for morning breakfast!! After a nice meal of yong tau foo, it was a 30min ride to the base of the falls and then the long hike up began!!
DAY TWO
Lotsa danger along the way cuz of the slippery rocks and we had to use ropes for the river crossings as well as some higher difficulty slopes! Thank God for the ropes if not most of us wouldn't have made it!! That's how tough it was!!
It was a 2.5hr hike up from the base to our base camp which is like almost halfway up to the falls. Upon setting up our tents and the shelter, it began to rain... All our hopes of going up to the waterfall was dashed!! When the rain stopped, Jarrod and Xuan went up to recee for the rest of us to see whether we could all make it up safely but to our dismay, we couldn't. Firstly, there wasn't enough time and secondly it was too slippery due to the rain.
Since bo pianz, cook dinner loh!! We got to taste Jarrod's cooking once again and I bet it was good cuz I could see the look on everyone's faces!! But too bad for me I couldn't taste it cuz I was down with flu and hence my taste buds all gone leh... Anyway we had chicken with lotus root soup, prawns, fried rice, chicken, kailan and longan for dessert! Cool dinner horz? Hee hee~
Rae made some tea for us and it helped ease the irritation in my throat. By 11pm we all sianz liaoz nothing to do. We took all the pics we could and ate all the food we could eat! Marshmellows make good supper i would say! However too sweet liaoz!!! Now I must cut down on my sugar supply for the next few days if not sure kena diabetes one!! They even took out the canned peaches and dipped it in hot chocolate!!! SINFUL!!
Slept in a 6 man tent with Pangwei, Jarrod and Sharon Ong. And guess who snored? SHARON ONG!! Hahaha! Actually I also don't know cuz I was sleeping like a log... But according to Jarrod and Pangwei she did make some funny noises while she sleeps! Hahaha!!
DAY THREE
Got up at 7am in the morning and Jarrod made breakfast!! Nice pancakes and rosti. Feeling much better today!! We left our camp at 8.45am in the morning and proceeded to finish our climb up the falls!
A very treacherous climb indeed I must say. There were many points in time where I could've slipped and fell into the river! Due to the heavy rain the day before, the moss on the rocks were wet and slippery so every step that I took I needed to find a steady footing and handhold before I proceeded on!
After an hour and a half climb up we realised that there wasn't enough time left to climb all the way up so we stopped at one of the smaller falls along the way and played in the water there!! But after a while, we needed to make our trip down to base camp to pack up our stuff as the bus was waiting for us at the bottom. Bro hurt his back while we were playing cuz he was swept down by the river and the rocks hit his back... Hope he's feeling better today!
Sadly, and fairly dissapointed we made our way down with a sense of unsatisfaction since we did not see the big falls! Oh well! Due to time constraints we made our way down. Everything went smoothly from there on although we were behind time by an hour and a half! We arrranged to be at the bus at 1pm but ended up we reached there at 2.30pm!! We took a quick shower at the base of the falls and changed into some clean dry clothes!! Phew! Finally in some comfortable attire!!
Went for a sumptious meal of seafood in JB again and this time I felt that the meal was much nicer!! Jarrod knows what stuff to order hee hee!! So everything that came was real good especially the crayfish!! OMG!! I totally enjoyed it!!
Overall, I enjoyed the trip and the company I had!! All the odac peeps were so nice to me when they knew I was sick! So thanks to ALL of them especially Aveline, Xuan, Rae, Pangwei, Jarrod, Shilei and Sharon who showed care and concern!!
Alrighty! Finally done with this entry!! The pics will be up shortly on the net for u guys to view takes some time to upload ya? So chill out hee hee!! Time to prepare for school! Later on still have maths test... sianz!!
Oh yah today is Lexin's birthday!! Going to holland v to celebrate later!! Can't wait to meet up with them and share stories again!
